Black cherry, charred wood, leather, earth. Dense, powerful yet elegant dark red with earthy, chocolaty finish.
Try it with beef ribs with barbeque sauce, hard sheep's milk cheeses like Spanish Manchego or Greek Graviera.
The name of the wine Istina means fundamental/deep truth.
Istina vieilles vignes (old vines) is made from Vranac grapes of an old abandoned vineyard. Harvest by hand, very low yield of 15hl/ha, fermentation by native yeasts, long aging in Burgundy barrique for 24 months, no filtration, no oenological products added, doses of sulfite less than 25 mg/liter. Great "vin de garde", wine for aging.
Vranac is an indigenous grape of the Balkans. The name translates to "black stallion," symbolizing strength and power. In many South Slavic languages, wines made from Vranac are known as "black wines" due to its dark, almost black color.
Crafted by Estelle and Cyrille Bongiraud (winemakers from Burgundy) on a Serbian terroir.
