Wine maker’s note:
”Bastardo is different. A blend of varieties from the Brkova and Straza regions, it is an outsider among the range of local and indigenous varieties that have become Fedora's trademark. It is a rebel against tradition, which has taken its place in our cellar. Hand-picked grapes from ecologically cultivated terraced vineyards in Natura 2000 (an ecological network of protected areas of the European Union), fermentation with our own yeasts and maturation in wooden barrels and concrete eggs without the addition of sulfur are the trademark of our cellar, which, combined with maceration without temperature control for up to 28 days and bottling by the moon, give Bastard a very special character.”
"We strive to use as little intervention as possible in bottling the life fluids of the vines and its grapes. Our wines encapsulate the qualities of the earth and the venerable traditions of Vipavska dolina. Our principal guide is that less is more." Fedora, Kobal family, Vipavska brda, western Slovenia
