Bright orange colour, apricots, candied fruit, orange peel, dry flowers and herbal aromatics. Dry, rich and mineral orange wine with a lovely fresh finish.
Will match beatifully with pure, simple organic food.
Notes of the winemaker about grapes and wine making:
"Grapes: Királyleányka, Rhein Riesling, Hárslevelű blend (they all together give 40 % but it's mostly Királyleányka as always) & Furmint (gives 60 % of the blend) from Mád village in Tokaj region from my collaboration partner, also organic grapes.
Királyleányka, Rhein Riesling, Hárslevelű: old vines planted in the 70s in Barabás village in Eastern Hungary (they are picked together in a field blend) on volcanic rhyolite base soil and clay - loam top soil.
Furmint: from Mád fron collab partner (Tokaj wine district), from the Hintós and Dancka vineyards, 20-30 years old vines on distinctly volcanic terroir of andesite and rhyolite tuff in base soil and brown forest soil and clay in top soil.
Vinification for Furmint: destemming with machine and 2 weeks on the skins with traditional punch downs then pressing in basket press. Vinification for Királyleányka, Rhein Riesling, Hárslevelű: partly whole cluster fermentation in egg shaped fermenter, partly destemmed macaeration for 4-5 days, with punch downs a few times daily (maceration in 500 or 1000 l harvest containers then pressing in basker press and the fermentation finishes in fiberglass). Both the Furmint and the different types of Királyleányka versions got blended in 2022 August".
