Winemaker’s notes: “Both plots where the grapes for this skin contact Chinado come from were harvested manually, between 427 August and 3 of September, into 15 Kg crates. A first selection of the grapes is done at the vineyard and then we check every bunch before de-steming, to ensure we only get the healthy grapes in. The grapes were then destemmed and maceration began. On the following day fermentation was on it’s way. The must remained with skins for 14 days and during that time all we do is a gentle delestage by hand twice a day. We then pressed the grapes into a stainless steel tank where fermentation continued until it was completed. The wine was racked during winter, blended and bottled the following spring”.
Crafted by João Tereso, a sound engineer who ventured into winemaking in 2017 to save his grandfather’s small plots of field-blend vines in Alcobaça, an hour north of Lisbon, Portugal.

Additional Information
Both plots where the grapes for this skin contact Chinado come from where harvested
manually, between the 6th and the 8th of September, into 15 Kg crates. THe vintage agve
us very well balanced grapes and harvest was on point to capture that balance. A first
selection of the grapes is done at the vineyard and then we check every bunch before
processing, to ensure we only get the best grapes in. The grapes were then de-stemed
and maceration began. The wine remained with skins for 12 days and during that time all
we do is gentle punchdowns by hand twice a day. We then pressed the grapes into a
stainless steel tank where fermentation continued until it was completed. The wine was
racked during winter, blended and bottled the following spring.
It shows classical skin contact aromas on the nose, like tea leaves and lemongrass. In the
mouth you get some stone fruit and mineral under tones, flanked by just the right amount
of acidity, soft tannins and a firm finish.
