Winemaker András Mátyás about the name of the wine:
"Somlyó is the name of the hill - part of the hill - where we have all of our vineyards, and also the name of the natural preservation area, which is our neighbor. This area is protected due to its special flora. There are submediterranean plants, which are typical for really dry and warm areas. The protected plants here are for example: Stipa pennata, Prunus tenella, Iris aphylla subsp. hungarica.. The name Somlyó is coming from the hungarian word Som, which is- or rather was a really typical wild fruit here - Cornel in english, cornus in latin. It's a hungarian word/name, because this part of Slovakia where we live, is mostly hungarian, and it was part of Hungary in the past. On the old maps is called Somlyó hill, today's slovak name also refers to this fruit. We gave this name to this wine  because we think that these wines really represent us and our work, there is everything in them that we believe in (terroir, nature/natural winemaking, traditions), we can present our terroir with these wines.".
