Vineyard practices: 100% by hand, 0% herbicides/pesticides, up to 1,200 hours of labor per hectare, vineyards located at 380 to 650 meters above sea level. Winemaking: selective hand picked grapes, no crushing, gentle pressing, slow fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Ageing and batonage (stirring wine lees) for several months.
Wohlmuth lies in Southern Styria, southeast of Austria. The winery has been family-owned since 1803 and is now in its seventh generation. Kitzeck-Sausal village appelation (a geological peculiarity within Southern Styria with soils formed over 400 million years ago together with Central Alps) ranks among Austria´s most historical winegrowing areas.
